Yes, everything in the title is correct!
This is a major upgrade for us, and I am pleased to finally announce it, although I had hoped the new tables would be ready but they shouldn't be too much longer.

I am making this announcement a little earlier than planned because I was recently contacted by MDA, who provides us with some GFS maps and the current version of the Euro. They will now be sending the GFS and GEFS on a 30 min. delay, but that won't impact subscribers as all of our GFS maps are in real time, and faster than most have access to already.
As far as the Euro, I was informed that the 850T/QPF map would no longer be sent, and the 500 mb map would be on a 2 hour delay. It is for that reason that I have decided to unveil these even though the new tables aren't ready yet.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank MDA for their affiliation and support of SV from the start.

At this point, I won't go into what packages will be offered, as there will be additional ones coming soon.

Enough of the background, now for the details.

As stated, we will have the Euro in 6 hour increments from hour 0 to 240!

Here are the 2 tables to be used until we have the new portal working:

http://www.stormvist...roSamples0z.htm

http://www.stormvist...oSamples12z.htm

I want to point out the very first column titled MSLP, QPF, THK, 2MT/850 0 Line.
I am not sure I have ever seen an ECMWF map quite like this one before, this one should be quite popular in winter. It is showing the all of those parameters on one map, and the thickness map is something new to most. I had planned to do this as 2 maps, with the other having the 32 deg. line and qpf on it, but after I had the original map made, Don thought it would be cool to plot it all on one, so there it is!

Attached File  1.png (39.74K)
Number of downloads: 11

Plotting the 1000-500 Mb THK was a little bit of an interesting story also. It's not provided as part of the data file we use to plot. Back when I was in college taking Met classes, we were taught a formula that isn't taught anymore, and many never heard of, so I dug that out of my mind and applied it to add the thickness!

The other 3 parameters available to Gold Subscribers are 2M T, 850 Mb T, and 500 Mb Hgt, MSLP for the U.S.
I know I said I wasn't going to discuss packages, but I will say that the next package up will actually have several more plots, including some of these plotted over different domains, and be in real time.

There were hard decisions that had to be made. Before we took this on, a price hike was planned because our server costs have gone up a factor of 14 over 2 years, and we never raised prices, partly because the former original owner was needed to accomplish this. Fortunately we have had good growth in Gold. The value of these maps is much higher than $15 per month, so I had to try to find a happy medium, so that the price increase wouldn't be too large. For that reason, these maps will be on a 30 minute delay. Even at that, it will probably be faster than many other sites, and these are nice maps, and I'm not just saying that because I am the one who plotted them lol

For those who want a larger view of the NHEM, the other plots, and real time, we decided to offer a higher package, which we will be announcing soon.
I got a little creative and have other sets of plots involving the Euro also, that will be revealed very soon.

As stated in the ownership change thread, I was brought here to handle the data end of things, and I am proud of the strong growth in this area over the last 2 years, and I have had a lot of help along the way, especially from Don, (but also a few others) who somehow has managed to teach me some programming, so if he can do THAT, he must be good lol.
The goal is to continue to provide high quality data, and that is where my focus is. From the start, I didn't want to be part of something that had "just a couple of extra maps", and nothing has made me happier than making all of the announcements we have made over 2 years for all of our additions. And there have been a lot of announcements, considering we built up from maybe 10,000 images per day created, to well over half a million per day now, but this has been the biggest (so far).
We have a number of subscribers who have been with us from day 1, and I would like to also take this opportunity to thank them for their patronage, and support.

I would suggest that all Gold subscribers to use those links above for the Euro from here on out. We have quite a number of subscribers who are not part of the forum. I am hoping some will view this thread as a guest. Unfortunately I will not be able to contact all who aren't members, by hand, this is why I always suggest registering for the forum, and visiting, so they can keep up with the latest news.

To those using the new temp links for the Euro: Please re-click the links, I changed the path as I need to work on some things. Thanks.

For this and a much larger project I have added a ton of maps, many of which will be for higher packages. There are 3 however, for the GFS, that all will get after I can start doing the new tables. We are now producing 6 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour QPF's. Some may have noticed a drastically different color bar now too. I made these changes to increase resolution on the scaling side, and also changed the colors to make it easier for those who forecast to use it. Early feedback from some beta testers on this has been positive, feel free to comment.

Nice maps. How much longer before we can loop the maps? Those of us with carpal tunnel problems are hoping soon!

Thanks!

The programmer needs to implement that, it is on his list, but that is for the new site. I didn't include the looping scripts on those tables because it would have required quite a bit of work, for something that is temporary anyway.

Getting very close everyone. Many of the nuts and bolts of the new site are wrapped up. Just a couple of more things on the map side to add.

Some of the logistics will be a work in progress, but that won't be a hindrance from here on out that I can see.

Made some major changes this week compared to our first plan, so that was the cause of about a week's worth of delays, but the changes were for all the better.

I'm happy to say that there has been a lot of good feedback, including several maps added. For example, Platinum will also have the ECMWF plotted in a tropical Domain, as well as an 850 T, MSLP, QPF map for the U.S., and one coming soon for Europe.
At 12z and 00z, I now have the GFS Ens. Mean 12 hour change maps, and now the Euro Ensembles also have 12 hour change maps. I have individual 850 T anom and 500 mb hgt anom maps added for the ECMWF and Euro Ensembles (For the Pro package and higher).

A couple of site bugs were fixed. Now when Pro or higher logs in, they will be taken directly to the Composites page, which show the 1-5, 6-10, and 11-15 day composite maps for 850 T anoms, all 4 runs, all 5 major models on one page. Also have it for 500 mb hgt anoms, and 7 domains for qpf composites.

Pro and higher also get to see specific city forecasts from the ECMWF Ens. Mean, and GFS Ens. Mean, that show the Mean forecasted city temp, as well as the high, low, and 1 Standard Deviation.

Could be more coming too, stay tuned!

What I like is that the 12z run from Sept 1 at 216 hours shows Erika...having gone extratropical, actually suggests the Maritimes their first shot at wet snow!

Thanks Jack - it's hard to get ECM coverage considering its a private corp that labors to collect on the value of their product - which is very good inside of 5 days, though not so great thereafter.
